Kuakata is a town known for its panoramic sea beach. It is located in the southeastern Bangladesh under the administration of Patuakhali district and Barisal division. From the beach tourist can have an unobstructed view of both sunrise and sunset over the Bay of Bengal. The place is mostly popular for the view of sunrise and sunset. The name Kuakata originated from the word ‘kua’ — the Bengali word for “well” which was dug by the early Rakhine settlers in quest of collecting drinking water. They landed on the Kuakata coast in the 18th century after being expelled from Arakan by the Mughals.

Kua kata beach offers you a full view of thesunrise and sunset from the same white sandy beach in Bay of Bengal. Kuakata is known as shagor kannya which means daughter of ocean. The beach is about 18 km long. The place is more beautiful in winter as many guest birds arrive from abroad.
Gangamati Reserved Forest
Gangamati Reserved Forest is located on the eastern end of the beach. The forest is reserved and an evergreen mangrove forest. Kuakata was under the sundarban forest, however it is one hour distance by speedboat. The forest is now in a threat of deforestation. The best time to visit the place is in the late afternoon. Kuakata faced a red alert as caution for a tsunami in 2007.
Fatra’s chor is the nice tourist place near the kuakata beach. Travelers should not miss the place. Fatar char is the part of the mangrove forest of sundarban. There are many timber trees available here and these trees are supplied all over the country.
Jhaubon is very beautiful place at Kuakata. Jhau bon is close to the sea beach. Jhau forest is created by Government initiative. Tourist or traveler can visit there by walking.Jhau bon is surrounded by many Jhau trees and coconut trees. Sunrise and sunset look much better from the place. Jhau forest is located on the east of the Gangamati reserved forest. There is an eco-park at this area. Jahu bon is very famous and well known to the tourists.Jhau bon a beautiful place to sit and relaxation. Jhau bon is very famous and a well-acquainted place for visitors.
Kuakata shutki polli
Shutki polli is another place at Kuakata where tourist can visit and buy dry fishes. Shutki polli means dry fishes. The place is located 4 kilometer west from Kuakata beach. When you visit lebur char you can visit the area and buy some shutkis and see the process of making dry fish. Fisherman catches a lot of fishes and sells them in the market but they don’t all fishes. The rest fishes are used to make shutkis or dry fish. In many countries dry fishes are supplied.
Narikel bagan means coconut garden is the place to visit for the travelers who are visiting kuakata. It is not so far from kuakata sea beach. There are a lots of coconut trees and most of them are 40 years old.
